open hands

i know - my posts have been a little heavy lately. Sometimes life is like that - a little heavy...
i found myself in the shower - where i can catch a rare quiet moment some days - praying over some hard things & the thought flashed into my mind before i had the presence of mind to stop it, "Father - is there someone else's character that you could work on for a little bit?"

Kinda like the pot asking the potter if He really knows what He's doing...

As soon as i recognized the thought, i laughed at myself. Is my character really worth so little to me that I would ask Him to stop working on it for the sake of my comfort?
So i changed my tune... i said to Him.... "No Father - If you could scratch that last part... i didn't mean it. Whatever you've got for me, Bring It On... Less of me - More of you."
& i mean it.
Maybe it will be painful - or maybe it will be miraculous. i'm not without hope... but whatever joy or sorrow comes - i want to accept it gratefully from His hands...

Oy...yes, this is my prayer as well...bring it on Abba, more and more of YOU, less and less of me! Yet, when I say it, I cringe a little, wondering how painful the pruning is going to get...lol

I'm guilty of saying enough already too! My character is refined enough... First the fridge broke down, then I drove into the ditch and car needs a $500 repair to the power steering pump, then John finds out that his boss is going to park the semi due to too much overhead and not enough profit (gross was $12K and fuel alone for Dec. was $6,400)... and now there is a real possibility John will have to go and work in a camp for 14 days at a stretch and then home for 7. Either God is trying to tell us something or this is a really bad stretch of bad luck!!! Of course I am worried but trying to trust through it all...

Ha...reminds me of the Jews during the war praying that God would "choose another people..." Anyhow...hard things happen to everyone...and only some people are allowing good things to flow out of that. So I say...you are wise not to waste your sorrow. (in the words of Bilheimer)
