ch-ch-ch-changes...

In an effort to make room for baby, we have kicked Charter out of his room.
i know, sounds mean...
But with his sleep disturbances, it's impossible for him to share a room, so we moved his bed into the rec room downstairs.. Yeh... i know what you're thinking... & yes, there are some downfalls to having a little boy sleep in a common area - but so far, the benefits seem to outweigh any of the difficulties. (& his bed is up high, so i don't mid if he leaves it in a heap like it is in this pic...
His "room" is the area under his bed... & it's not totally organized yet, but it's coming. So far, he really seems to love his little space... & the fact that he can now spy on his big sisters. (P&S's room is the door on the left of the pic).

Neil knocked a hole in the wall so that the pvr & dvd players didn't need a shelf sticking out. i love our little "growth tree" beside.

& la piece de resistance...
a portrait of neil & i - done by molls... i think she got his shoulders down perfect, don't you?

Oooh fun changes!
We're stealing your idea for the height tree - hope that's ok :) And I love how your house doesn't look like it has 7 kids.
Beautiful home you have.

Oh, and I like the new flooring. I don't remember that so I'm guessing it's new ?

let me know how it goes... so far everyone who wants to sleep alone also has a friend who would cry themselves to sleep if their buddy moved out, but at some point, this might be a useful experiment for me to use when planning our own ch ch changes..

I love it!! I've always wanted to do something for the kids' height. Graeme likely won't let me paint a thing on the wall - any other ideas? Other than a painted door-jamb getting used and marked up?

Any chance you could move his mattress to the floor and let him have the bunk for a treehouse? I have nightmares about him diving off that high bed...

We did the EXACT same thing for my little brother. His 4 older sisters all wanted their own room and since he somehow ended up beside my parent's bed every night, his "room" was a space in the basement with an office divider for a front wall. He loved it!

I was told tonight of a little guy who dreamed he was playing baseball, and he plumb stood up and ran straight off of his bunk bed.

Hilarious image, no? Poor kid - apparently he lived to tell about it!

This is not going to help mamalena's nightmares... the good news is that if Charter runs off of his bed, he should land feet first. :)

neil did cut some height off the bunk 'cause charter is a sleepwalker & HAS jumped off his bed in the night (didn't get hurt tho...)
Mel - the tree is boards that are screwed into the wall so we can take with if we ever move. The leaves are little magnets that stick to pins so they can come with too.
Steph, Charter is a unique case though with his night interruptions. i'm hoping that he grows out of it one day - but it does make him a very difficult person to sleep with...

I like your chicken toes even better than the shoulders although she did do a great job of everything. Paige! You could make a hanging curtain from Charter's top bunk with thick denim or something which would give him even more privacy and coolness factor (as if he needs to be any cooler!) Then one of those Ikea lights inside. I love your re-arranging and decorating. Gets me excited. So cute! -j
