quality vs. quantity

it's a farce...
we desperately need both.
Neil took me on a lunch date today - we talked about drafts, men's personal style, won ton's and wall calendars. After moments of silence - he told me about work and asked me about homeschooling.
He took a phone call.
We talked about a wedding we're gonna go to.
Quality? i dunno - sure - a burger & won ton soup in a drafty restaurant might be quality...
Quantity? Yeh... 's more like it. Gimme hours & minutes with the one i love. Gimme days, months & years that pile into decades. Gimme carefree conversations and long stretches of amiable silence.
Quality needs Quantity to survive...
& Quantity needs a little Quality to thrive...
it's a match made in heaven.

Eating pizza in the car on the way home from dropping off the semi for the last time last night. I'm in the back seat, handing pieces of Meatlovers or Hawaiian to whomever is asking for another piece. Quality? Probably not -- but it WAS a 2 for 1 special! Quantity? Well, there was lots!

And it was kind of strange but it was "family time" and it was a good thing -- and we arrived home (after the 45 minute drive) with our tummies full. Together through it all...

It's all relative, I guess. Pizza or a fancy find dining establishment. Being there for one another (as the commercial says) -- PRICELESS!

I'm a quantity kinda girl. Adds up to quality doesn't it?

It's so true that you can't just spill it when you have a few moments in the margins of life. You get in the habit of silence... The quality stuff needs to be a part of the constant flow of the quantity stuff... Wish I was better at the blether.
